So, I’ve been gone for a bit because we, rather unexpectedly, moved.
Over the past 2 years our lives have shifted rather dramatically, and with those changes we decided to relocate from a small town in the Inland Empire to Ventura County, and closer to our kids. While we have been figuring things out and deciding on a final destination, we’ve been staying with our son and his family. (They are the BEST!)
We’d been living in a rural community, which was a great place to raise 4 sons, but post kids we were ready for something different. I kept an eye out in several areas we were interested in, but more to get a feel for what was out there. We didn’t have plans to move by a certain date. A place that ticked most of our want list came up…things just fell into place and the next weekend we had keys.
So, all of our free time has been spent hauling boxes out of storage and sorting. Moving into a small place means a simpler more sustainable lifestyle which was our goal…but also more winnowing down of our ‘stuff’…mostly books. I’d already given away about 1,000 books, no exaggeration…but we still have boxes and boxes and boxes. Oye! Emptying out the storage unit and our son’s garage will be a HUGE accomplishment that we hope to finish this moth.
We are now walking distance to restaurants, coffee shops, and the local farmer’s market and I’m excited to explore our new town.
I’ll be back to the blog next week. Thanks for understanding and I hope your new year is off to a great start.
